Benefits of Hardwood Flooring
- Hardwood flooring will increase the value of your home
- Hardwood floors are easy to clean, and requires very little maintenance
- A well cared for hardwood floor will never have to be replaced, and in the long run is
more cost effective
- Wood flooring does not trap dust, dirt or mites, making it an excellent choice for
allergy/asthma sufferers
- It doesn’t wear thin or hold stains and odours
- Even though real wood is supposed to gain character with age, you won’t have to be
grinding off tiles or lifting carpet in 20 years time to achieve a brand new floor — a
simple resand will be all you need.
Supplying new and recycled flooring
we supply new and recycled flooring consisting of T&G and parquet flooring, NZ native and imported timbers.
We offer a range of recycled flooring and sustainably harvested hardwoods which are naturally durable —
as a positive alternative to illegally logged rainforest.
T&G hardwood flooring comes in a range of sizes. Typical sizes are based on old imperial measurements:
- ‘3-inch’ — usually a finished size of 58 or 60mm.
- ‘4-inch’ — finished sizes generally range between 80mm and 88mm, and all sizes in between.
- ‘5-inch’ — finished sizes generally range between 108mm and 110mm.
- ‘6-inch’ — the most common is 135mm, but 133 to 140mm are also common. Modern imported flooring timber tend to be in the 125mm to 133mm range.
The measurement is taken across the face of the floorboard, not including the tongue.
We supply both these standard sizes and can provide custom sizes on request.
We deliver hardwood and recycled flooring throughout NZ and can arrange overseas delivery.
Installation of hardwood floors
We recommend that you use an experienced timber flooring installer.
We have professional hardwood floor installation crews based in Wellington, Masterton and
Tauranga, covering most of the North Island.
If you prefer to install your own timber floor we will send you installation
guidelines.
Buy your new or recycled timber flooring from us and we’ll loan you a set of flooring clamps
to make the job easier (we charge a bond which is 100% refunded upon return of the clamps).
Finishing
- Professional sanding of new and existing timber floors.
- Moisture-cured and water-based polyurethane options.
We can also stain your wooden floor as part of the sanding and coating process.
New vs Recycled flooring timber
New flooring
New native timber is generally harvested from wind thrown or river eroded trees.
Logs deemed uneconomic and left behind from earlier harvesting efforts are now
being salvaged and milled.
Timber is air-dried, then kiln dried and profiled as T&G flooring.
We supply new hardwood flooring in most timber species, NZ natives — Matai, Rimu, Beech,
Tawa, and more; and imported species —
Jarrah, Oak, Ash, Kwila, Yaka, and more.
Recycled flooring
We stock and supply a range of recycled timber flooring — Matai, Rimu, Tawa, and some
imported species — Jarrah and Australian Hardwood. There are two categories of recycled timber flooring:
- Uplifted and recycled for re-use. Recovered from buildings that have been demolished,
docked, T&Gs cleaned, and packed for dispatch to you. Stock levels can vary significantly depending on current
demolition activity. Let us know your requirements in advance and we can usually always fulfil your order.
- New flooring run from recycled timber. Easier to lay than uplifted flooring.
Will have character and evidence of previous use.
Parquet Flooring
We manufacture and supply parquet flooring produced from new and recycled native and
imported timber. Standard designs or custom to your requirements.
We can also supply new parquet flooring made from recycled French oak wine barrels.
Shipdeck flooring
